Sounds like you're a happy man! I quite fancy getting a laptop as well, but don't know how much use it would get. Generally prefer working with larger screens, but it would be cool to surf the net on the sofa, not sure that's worth £1,000+ when I can do that perfectly well on my iMac at my desk. Tempting though… |

you can do it on tiger as weill i think. Right click or cmd click if you don';t have two buttons. The choose get info. the liitle info window will come up and then you should be able to just drag and drop your icon onto the original one. I'm not 100% sure but think it does the job. think those settings should work. I know you import your favourites that way. Give it a try and see. If your colours are starting to run, let them all run, run away from you. Flux - Bloc Party

I think I sould explain a bit more in-depth. I am trying to take off the default apps I don't want on the dock, so it's not all cluttered up. Things like Garageband and Time machine and Spaces, for example. But I don't know how to take them off, any suggestions? If it works, it's valid.

Lol. I am a programmer, therefore I wish to learn to program mac apps for my mac...preferably using C++ cause I know that, but obviously I'd have to change something...what would I use to make Mac applications?? xcode is for developers only. Cocoa? Carbon? Any and all comments are welcome, of course. :p I imported my FireFox bookmarks too btw. If it works, it's valid.

xcode is for developers to develop mac apps. anyone can install and use it, it's designed to be easy to use. and cocoa. carbon is the (admittedly very good) port of the old Classic mac API's onto OS X. it's been announced that it will never have GUI 64-bit support, which is basically its death sentence. Cocoa is the set of API's native to OS X, so takes advantage of everything. |

Yeah Xcode comes on your install DVDs and is really easy to grab and start playing with. The preferred language for Cocoa is Objective C but I believe you can use any number of languages to program mac apps in. |

If you are looking to make cross platform applications with a GUI, take a look at this: http://www.wxwidgets.org/ |
