Thinking of taking a holiday to new york with my girlfriend for our 21st birthday next year. Could possibly be the moment i pop the question also but thats not set in stone ha ha. Just wondering if any of you guys had been and where's best to book this. I've been looking on expedia and can get a 7 night stay on Broadway for about £1000 each. I'm also going with uni but will more than likely be staying in a dingy hostel so not wanting anything like that. For those of you that have been whats good to go see? |

I am more than likely moving there next year no later than June, so feel free to get in touch if you're going summer or later. Quote:
Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney, Guggenheim are the big four art museums. All in Manhattan (there are other museums, too). The MoMA is required in my book - the new building is gorgeous. Also, there's the Natural History Museum, which is a favorite of mine. I loved the Bronx Zoo when I was a kid, but can't vouch for it today. There's the "standard tourist-y activities" like the Empire State viewing deck (I think tickets are between $10-20). Times Square. Rockefeller Center (though ice skating is only available in the winter). Central Park. Definitely take the subway almost everywhere. It's fast and you can get a 7 day unlimited MetroCard for around $20 (that's buses, trains, and transfers between). Cabs are expensive, so use them as a last resort. I wouldn't stay on Broadway just because of the price, but that seems pretty normal price-wise for Broadway (depending where on Broadway you are!). |

when you're there it's tempting just to walk everywhere...it kind of feels natural just to walk and walk...but I totally fucked my feet last time I was there. I was in serious pain in the foot dept to the point of being totally useless. |

yeah thats for the whole 7 nights. Sounds good Andy. Least it's different. Be something to tell the kids about. I'm well looking forward to this trip. Just need to save up some money then i'll be booked. Just need to get a ring and all the other crap and i'll be sorted. |
