Design Advice

Hi,

I am a web designer that has come from a more technical background than design. I did a degree in Multimedia and focused more on development than design. Once I left college I realised my mistake as I have always been more creative than teccie. It is benefitting me now with regards to actionscripting etc . I have been teaching myself conceptual design etc from forums, blogs, websites and books etc..

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to learn graphic design, visual communication, typography, branding and print, can anyone recommend any good books/tutorials? would i be better off doing a diploma or degree in one of these areas?
