Anyone know of a way to disable IE7's zoom feature?
Since I can't really find the perfect area for this...I thought I'd toss it here. I'm having and issue where a client is testing our site and has their browser's default zoom set higher than normal (we didn't exactly plan for that type of thing)...so until we can remedy this design flaw, I was curious if anyone know of a way on our end to disable that. Thanks, ~mattlinder |

You're attempting to fix the wrong end of the problem. You can't/shouldn't attempt to change a feature of a browser, instead, educate the client. If they won't listen, yet still complain, send them step-by-step instructions on how to fix it, such as: "Click 'Page' at the top-right of the browser, then choose 'Zoom', then choose '100%'." Lastly, remember, if they want it this way (due to having less-then-perfect vision, etc.), then they're probably used to seeing all websites they visit in a less-then-perfect manner. |

I hear you. It's just hard to convince the Account Managers that this is the right course of action. Our biggest problem is that the designers created a microsite that launches in a new resize centered window that via javascript allows no resize. Yet.....IE7 breaks it and you can see the elements contained outside of the stage of the flash movie. It's just another reason for IE to annoy the crap out of me...haha. Anyway....thanks for the heads up. ~Linder |

Wow. Every usability and accessibility mistake in the book - in one thread!
People who intentionally break the functionality of their users' computers are the problem. |
