I feel like I should like it, but I just find it very unpleasant to look at. Maybe it will grow on me, but I can't see it :/ Congratulations on having the balls to do something different I suppose, and definitely congratulations on getting your hands on 400k of tax payer dosh. And ugh their new site... god their old one was a bit dry and staid perhaps but it got the job done, I'm sick of trying to go through it already. Actually no ... I'm done the site is kind of empty, they're obviously moving to a trading on ego and reputation alone, so they're not bothering showing much of their work, just name dropping. Woo hoo! |

From the Wiki article: "Appeared on the BBC website under the alternative Olympic Logo entries. Two hands were pulling apart the O from 2012 apart. Original Page. A screen capture is found here." |

I do kind of like it because it's bold....but.. its conventionally ugly. garish colours and wacky angles seem to crop up when designers are either - 1. crap or 2. trying really hard to produce a completely new look (or 3. both!) this look is percieved as 80's because in the 80's everything was crap. |

I was so inspired and interested that I made my own 2012 typeface. It looks like this and you can download it here: http://www.kolumbus.fi/stephenb/SB2012.ttf ![]() My free fonts www.utfi.net

I think its main problem is that its not timeless, its very firmly rooted in 80's design, a dangerous thing to do for a logo thats got to last as long as it has. As for the Timmy Mallet comment, I think thats spot on, its the perfect logo for whack-a-day. |
