Repairs? I've had my PC for 3 years. It's never been "repaired" - same with the one before it that I had for 5 years. Both computers over an 8 year period cost the same as ONE desktop Mac.

Pointless crap software? What pointless crap software? Assuming your computer runs Windows, I'll give you Windows Movie Maker, but that's all I can think of. Otherwise, there's this great little "Uninstall" utility in the Control Panel you should really check out.

Windows is just a choice. I could have used one of the many varieties of Linux, but I like playing games and using Adobe software and have no problem with Windows because it works fine. I'd probably use OSX if it were available, though.

I won't pay a premium because a computer is wrapped in shiny white plastic, but I won't get into it.

It's a matter of personal preference, nothing more.

argue all you like... your outnumbered here 100 to 1.

end of.

yeah, i dont pay for any software apart from the os itself and office.. and the odd piece of software that i need which you would need to buy for the mac anyway

i find the cheapest way to buy XP is to get a pirated version, install it, get caught by ms and then get the special offer price to get a legit copy, only 90 quid or so (i'm not getting vista until its been out a few months to get over those niggles that usually accompany new software)

I just bought a new computer for £280 (well, the tower anyway).. 1gb of ram, 3.4GHZ Athlon, 80gb harddrive etc etc. Nice and cheap to upgrade any of the parts.

I must admit that I like the mac monitors, but thats a different thing altogether

The price of PC hardware is dropping at an impressive rate, if you need a large number of average CPU's (ie: a render farm) then there is no choice in the matter.

100-3

This is so annoying. I thought I would buy myself a nice new iMac for my birthday hoping Leopard would be on it. Now I gotta wait?! Shit.

For all you Mac lovers dont you know that Microsoft once had and may even still have $150 million dollars worth of shares in Apple as Apple was facing bankruptcy.

I like the look of Macs but why pay for software I already have for windows and works fine? Also, you cant play many games on a Mac. I have never had a problem with windows - it just doesnt look as good as a mac.

It's Mac not MAC...

And yea everytime Apple sells an ipod Creative get a cut I think, likewise Microsoft does for something else Apple sells, wahey for copyrights.

And sure if you're already set up on PC there's no overwhelming move to a Mac pressure, I currently have a PC at home for everything, but I prefer using a Mac, its all the little things really - generally stability, better font management, (not to mention font previewing in things like Illustrator is miles better on a Mac, I find I have to outline everything on a PC just to have an idea what it'll look like.)

They both have problems, but after working on both, personally no contest for me, would rather be Mac based for work.

Doesn't vista let you do that with the previous versions option on the propeties tab of files. So you can go back to previous versions of a file. Oh and of course the good old system restore.

Did you happen to know that Apple were the ones that came up with the expression Personal Computer?

Oh yeah I know that, but also Byte Magazine started using the term PC at the same time as Apple. But then again IBM released the IBM PC first...so I dont know who came up with it.

Yeah I use mine 90% of the time for work but still i still like to play a game or two in my spare time or on holidays. Millions of people care, hence the whole reason there's a multi-billion dollar gaming industry.
