Compare cost of my Audi A3 to the cost of cigarettes... Do you pay attention? It's damn cheap to rent my Audi A3! Surprised that my Audi A3 costs the same as buying just 29 cigarettes a day? Note: a) Smoking 29 fags bad; b) Car good. |

Hmmm, hello everyone! But do I know YOU, freelancr? You say "again". Have I met you? Or have you just seen me around? I love the way that unless something fits your neat apple-mac world it's a "fucking mess". Who is to say what is a mess and what's not? 99% of comments I get about my website are complimentary, people seem so refreshed that it isn't a standard ... contact us... faq... about us... menu list on a sparse website with outdated info which does not entertain on a slow server with broken links. All business is showbusiness. Everyone wants entertainment, hence why you are all here. Design is quite secondary, i have to say. I am talking about making a very nice living from a website, not designing the iPod. Most websites are the opposite to mine, design-led with content a very poor second. Suits designers though, as it gets you the demand of work. My design theme is "nuclearduluxconfusion" Glad to give you a migraine and remember when you are calling people names that they are out there and looking at what you are saying. i just need to figure out who you are, you 21 year old web-developer. Please point out some of YOUR sites, for my own critique :) FYI, my website IS working, I get approx 10 applications for cars every day. I don't think that's bad when a new car is a bloody big-ticket item to get people's confidence and move from a website. Remember, I don't have the benefit of a franchise or a dealership or a big brand name or £millions. Currently £5,000,000 of list price value of cars in process (that's accepted for finance through to my commission invoice due for payment). A car is a very emotional purchase, so i need to appeal to emotions - not challenge the latest cool thing to get a chill factor -100. I need to polarise people. Does that ever occur to you when you are designing, or do you fall into the lowest common denominator school of never upsetting anyone and being all things to all people? A £200k turnover this year will be a good achievement from a "fucking mess" of a website, Freelancr. Which design school taught you that analysis? Do you get extra points for neat and clean? I don't need points to be able to eat, I need UK Pounds. Don't forget to mention how much money you manage to generate from your neat and tidy and cool websites you design :) Ling Last edited by LINGsCARS : 31-03-2007 at 16:31. |

Well, yes, I'll stick around. I just wanted to point out that ooooing and ahhhhing over "design" is nice, but making it work is better. Always glad to join in, hehehe. Weekends are not so busy. I must say that many successful sites tend to break design traditions and are not neat. i don't think anyone would call ebay or Amazon "clean" sites, and eBay certainly has a bit of amateurishness about it, but hell, it works --- To RaelRode; you are a twerp. Like anyone who just criticises, you seem a bit thick. I say the following to idiots like RaelRode: a) I am not anonymous (like you). I am big enough to disclose who I am and what i do, so how about coming out of the closet yourself. b) I only tell the truth, so if you want to discuss figures feel free, but be prepared to disclose your earnings, too. c) If you are so knowledgeable and so good, point me to your successful business website. Otherwise keep your stupid mouth shut as you spout rubbish. ---- One correction: I have £5 million of cars in process, not £50 million, my finger slipped, hehehe. Ling |

By the way, I WAS just blatantly advertising on Dragons' Den. The BBC invited me on! I did not apply. However, I would have accepted investment up to 10% for £50k from the Dragons, especially the Australian, as it would help in 5-years or so when I float or sell part of the company. The BBC were very pleased and did me a big favour with the placement of my missile truck on the TV. I gave them a few laughs and brightened up the show, I hope. You should always remember this is only a TV show like Coronation Street. Even though it has an element of realism, it is certainly NOT real-life. They filmed me for 3 1/2 hours to get that small 12 minute piece. At the end, I was knackered. They mixed and edited it like hell, but I did not complain. Got 10k unique visitors the next day - Ling |

Hey Ling, fair play to you! Your answers make alot of sense, and I found you pretty amusing on the Den – the website does look rough, however! Goodluck, and glad things seem to be going so well! |
