I think these have been posted before. I love them. It's a nice contrast with Banksy or some other graffiti artist - they have character, they're impermanent, whimsical and they respond to their environment. And they aren't eye-rollingly pseudo-subversive, either. |

...but I don't think they really say anything. apart from being interesting/striking images. hey look! legs sticking out of a dustbin! what does that mean? umm nothing. but look over there! a duck made out of (cellatape?) |

"They simply challenge your experience of the world around you" they challenge my experience to this extent - I notice a pair of legs sticking out of a bin. I think to myself..thats looks weird. end of story. I've always liked this idea for an installation by Goldsworthy. http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/content...44260&CFTOKEN= Its visually interesting, Plus it actually means something & there's thought behind it. rather than just doing something that looks cool. |

...What... so you would tell anyone at work or at home??... Discuss it what so ever??... I also think the work is a continual series... and maybe on there own they say less than all together.. But did the Artist want you to see them as sculptural installations or the images of the installations. I think out of context the work is less provocative but in context the work is very appealing. |

the point of this guy's art (from what I've read) is that he makes the average person walking down the street an art critic whether they like it or want to or not. His clothing pieces break norms and cause the viewer to think and react to it. Looking at what appears to be someone putting their head through what's supposed to a solid wall pulls in the questions, is there a hole in the wall? is the wall really soft after all? do they have a head at all? is it really a person? It's the thought process that the viewer goes through that completes and validates these pieces. To me the cellophane pieces also function something similar to a sillouette to me. You take out the details and what remains is its interaction in its environment. |
