have they got nothing better to do

was on the way home from droppin the missus off at work, doin 55ish in a 50mph (no reason to be a 50, should easilty be a 70) when i noticed two coppers in an unmarked white van parked on a bridge using a speed gun sniper style from the side door!!

shouldnt they be trying to catch real criminals rather than make life hell for us? they may as well have been in camoflage...

not sure if i got caught...

there is no longer a policing police force in this country.

its about raising revenue from traffic offences.

phone the police now and say there are 3 theives in your garden having a tea party with your garden furniture. When they arrive offer them some christmas dinner. Thats how long they will be.

They always try to be so sneaky, but my radar/laser detector always saves me. There's no way I'd be doing 55ish in a 50...my left foot is too filled with lead for that

I doubt you got caught for only 5 over. I've actually talked to some off-duty cops about my speeding problem and unless they're really hard up, they say they won't pull you over for exceeding the limit by 10MPH or less. Dunno, when it comes time for quota, why do I think that would change?

So that they can catch you 'at it' and fine/penalise you which in turn will make you less likely to do it again in the future (when they may not be there).

Sticking a big sign up saying 'police here with speed camera' means drivers will slow down for 300 yards then put their foot back down as soon as they are in the clear.
The idea is to teach you to drive without speeding 'all the time', not just when you can get caught for it.

(and yes, I'm 100% in favour of speed cameras too.)

I think in this here country, it's done by a standard amount (to allow for slight differences with your speedo and the reliability of their gun etc - I think it's 5 mph) and a percentage of the limit ........Or something.

Anyway - you should be alright.

speed cameras, humps and traps actually increase rage, stress and sloppy driving.

Our speed limits are antiquated, our laws aged.

The cars we drive are not built for our palmost lethagic roads. Up the speed limit. We would have less accidents if we could drive faster.

Obviuosly built up areas are another issue I am taking link roads, motoways and A roads etc

they are still in the garden.

they allow you 10%. but don't count on it as your speedo might be out by 10% and you're properly f'ked then. i set the cruise control to 60 in a 50 zone and i've never been photographed.

Hey, out of curiosity, how close are any of you to the Autobahn, and have you ever been on it? AND...if you HAVE been on it and driven really f*cking fast, was it fun? Fucking scary? Great to drive as fast as you want or -eh- no big deal?

I've heard that even at 120-130MPH people are still passing you by like you're standing still...

On Sunday afternoon I got back from Sainsburys and my next door neighbours burglar alarm was going off. It happens regularly but as I had a really bad hangover I rang the police in an attempt to get them round, to be told that unless I was certain I had seen someone in the house they were unable to do anything about it. Well this morning I got a little card through the door from the police saying next door had been burgled on Sunday asking me if I had seen anything suspicious!

Fucking idiots! Wait until I tell next door - their going to be livid!

Tell him I'm sorry. It was nothing personal.

Did anyone see Humberside's chief dude on newsnight last night? Disgraceful.
