Bad tif rendering in windows??
Hi Guys, I have a 300dpi CMYK tif file is going to print. The tif makes up the background of an Illustrator file with a text overlay. I have sent the client a disk with the images. He is viewing the files via Picture Viewer in Windows XP and is concerened about the difference from the visual reference files I have been sending him. Anyway I could work out why he sad they were so different so too a look at the tif file in picture viewer my self and was shocked by what i saw. Here is what the tif (should) and does look in Illustrator and Photoshop http://www.pixelpyro.co.uk/good.jpg Here is what it looks like in picture viewer http://www.pixelpyro.co.uk/bad.jpg What the hell is that - anybody know why this looks so wrong?? Unfortunately the client doesn't have Ill or PS so is convinced the image is WRONG - I need to explain that isn't the case but its a bit difficult given the results.. Any ideas Cheers feel the heat.

proof is definately the way to go, that's the end your concerned with. Spend hours on colour correction here and a lot of it is workin, blind using comparative differences between amount of cyan etc and trying to extrapolate out the percentage difference to apply to what's on screen. Now that was a garbled but you get the idea. As for why it's so different, not sure, but quite a lot of programs will display differently , photoshop, flash, illustrator. It also depends greatly on your monitor callibration compared to his as to how wrong he thinks it looks (though from your examples there's obviously a difference between programs), you never know. Colour's a bitch. Proof. |

The work will be proofed - Printing is in Thailand however so want to make sure that before the project is sent out, proofed then the proof sent back that there ins't something seriously wrong. I don't believe there is but need to convince the client. Andrew - I am a cross forum poster - this is correct - I am not ashamed to admit it, I respect the information from both DT and DO so post on both. Call me a forum whore if you want.. feel the heat.

Have you tried saving it out as a jpeg and viewing it in pictureviewer? Does it display correctly? If so then its probably picture viewer fucking things up - it aint exactly a high end product renowned for its colour accuracy |

it might also be to do with tiff formatts. are you creating the image on a mac? i'd put it down to picture viewer like mr t said above. its not exactly a proper piece of kit is it? why not send them a pdf? thought that's what they're there for? |
