images, free, optimised, hosted

A colleague has mentioned that he previously found a website which held free for commercial use images. It hosts the images and they were well optimised.

Rubbish I though. Convinced by his source (and of course unable to remember the name). It's a tall order I thought but if it does exist, it's worth knowing about.

My challenge to you?

...name that site! Anyone?

www.sxc.hu is basically a royalty free and free for use image stock. The images are not optimised and the dimensions can be big. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Why don't you just ask your colleague, rather than making us guess?

As I stated above - he can't remember the website.

I'm not doing this for kicks - that would be sad!

err - resample the big images? Stock photo's are large for a reason? A site offering only 72dpi ain't going to do that well...

haha I was going to say the same, shrink the effin images, problem solved innit? As for hosting them - you honestly have no webspace?

Its like saying, "I don't want this giant cake, I just want a slice" - get a knife.
