Freelance prices...

I was just wondering what the rough prices are being thrown around at the moment with regards website design and build.

Prices on simple straight forward design and build. No e-commerce or anything fancy, just a plan simple site say 5 pages of info.

Just wondered what the price range difference is between a company and freelance.

Do you think you get paid for what you are worth. This is all mainly due to a site I came across elance or something like that. I cant believe that some people are willing to work there nuts of putting in a stupid amount of hours for £30 or so on say a logo…

how longs a piece of string

depends on location

in cardiff for example

company range from £40 - £90 per hour
freelance - £10 - £60

All depends on skillset, rep and output

as Mikey says, its all very dependant on so many things...
but on average, i charge about 25 quid an hour, or 200 a day when working for myself and get billed out at between 75 - 90 an hour if I work through a company.

also depends on the client. some get 450 some get 200 per day. how much can you get out of them before they decide to go to someone else?

I guess it depends also on what the companys rep is like. I am the only designer here. netXtra charge £500 a day for me to design work for a client. It feels quite scary sometimes knowing that someone has paid that much for you to design something and you coudl quite easly mess up... I dont think I am worth £500 a day not at all. But people around me think I am. (Wished I got that £500 aday thats for sure.)

How do you people feel about what your worth, is it correct or do you think your worth more or less ?

200 a day does me fine, and If i only work 2/3 of the year I still come out with a healthy wage. Having said that i'd work for half what i earn as I enjoy what I do (90% of the time)

I think personally that I'm worth more than I'm getting paid

I have to agree with you tomson, enjoying your job is worth more than getting paid loads to do a job you hate...

Sometimes I feel a bit shit on when you get people who are no afence thick as fuck and do site work, building site. one of my mates get a £100 a day to work on a building site do next to fuck all...
