Looks ok. Is it just me that thinks it's missing the feel of the Toys r us brand? Feels a bit too clinical. I imagine this to be what the Mothercare site looks like....(in fact: http://www.mothercare.com/) |

i designed it. i find the comments about it being too long to be pretty funny. the main pages are capable of nearly doubling in length based on TRUs wishes and the technology used in building the pages. this is by far the longest page i've ever designed. if the product page has a full set of data and reviews, it can go upwards of 3000 pixels. also, i am not sure if everyone on this list is aware or not, but this is a major departure for TRU as they were until last friday night on amazon's platform. anyway, i appreciate your comments and can give you specific reasons behind the strategy of the site design if anyone is interested. -b |

Do you work for the corporate office or an independent agency in Philly (I went to school there. Sure, if you have a case study or anything... I think it's fine. It's not really striking in any way. I'm not sure how I feel about the "glassy" effects on banners and tabs and such - I think it might be a bit too much. |

it's actually on a proprietary platform - homegrown, but we have upwards of 50 (i think thats the official number) large scale ecommerce sites running on it. i work for a company called GSI Commerce, which provides end-to-end ecommerce solutions for established retailers. everything from design and strategy (what i do) to warehousing, fulfillment, call centers, etc. its a pretty interesting model, and our only true competitor is amazon. -b |

heh! good luck man... and i dont mean this in a cocky way as i'm generally amazed at the level of success we've acheived this far and the prospects for the future. our marketting site is www.gsicommerce.com - please dont slam me for this one... i had very little control over it! but the press releases and partner list there will give you the overall story. -b |

yup, after looking at the site i realised the size of the company! we'll never be able to compete on the infrastructure side (warehousing, customer care etc) but software is somewhere that it'll happen either way, the internets big enough for all of us! |

The bevels look horrible. Too many horizontal and vertical lines, which are boxed in. The boxes look bad, the top and bottom "borders" are thick and the side borders are 1px. And the cream color background is putting me off. Could be better. be crisp™ | <(-_-)>
