Just another gimmick...especially if you run in a city, you know exactly how far you've run.

Sigh.

It tracks how far you've gone, how fast you're going, how long you've been going, gives you an account to keep a training log, etc.
Hardly a gimmick.

oooh there's such a fine line between cynic and miserable cunt.

having seen my missus and a few dozen other people train for marathons over the past few years it doesn't take a genius to see this as being a top training doodah... having to measure training routes with a ordnance survey map and a piece of string aint exactly scientific.

So sorry my opinion of a product isn't glowing. Guess that makes me a miserable cunt. Or is it that I've not bought into the hype of the Apple Gods? Or is it Nike that I should fawn over?

Of course, I wouldn't think they'd want to be wearing headphones and an iPod anyway, so what's the point?

Your casual runner - 95% of the running population - probably doesn't care about all that information. They go out, run for an hour or so or run a set number of miles, and they're done.

I suppose the training log could be useful, but what ever happened to "I'll go for a run every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the morning." Just do it.

Actually most of the runners I know take it very seriously. They don't compete, but they plan out their training, and all sorts of other things I could bever be bothered to do.

pgo - you are at the exact opposite end of the spectrum where you dis anything by apple. It's as bad as those who do nothing but fawn

That's true, but I just like being facetious.

Put your iPod in a clear transparent (and waterproof, just to be safe) case that adds a wireless connector which then uses Bluetooth to talk to your toilet seat. While you pinch a loaf it weighs you, takes your temperature, scans your dump as it passes the "sensor ring", and gives you helpful dietary suggestions along with playing a preset song that you've associated with one of a half-dozen air freshener options.

Not really, when you are just trying to keep fit its good to have a measure of how well you're doing as you have something to aim for and know when you've improved.

Don't you have to try and be funny to be facetious?

I think it's the bomb. If I could sleep at night worrying about the poor sweat shop workers I'd definitely buy one. Actually, fuck it, one more won't hurt 'em.

I'm hardly a hard core runner or olympic athelete, but my point for taking my iPod when out running is so the music keeps me motivated and it also helps drown out the comments from passing cars. Think I'll post the link on runners world its cool!
