Pixelsurgeon my man. I visit there pretty often and I saw the link and decided to check it out. Honestly, I'm somewhat of hermit, and I thought this may help me get in toch with the design community a little more.

hello from another newbie

I am frustrated that my most frequented forum is down (@ Stereotypography), so I thought I'd give this a try.

Jeff from Portland OR USA here. Just popped in to check out things. Love the fact it's such an international group here. I'm sure I'll be spouting off once in a while.

Welcome to the board Jeff
It is good to get designers from around the world here , can give you a different perspective on things.
I admire the different styles , one of my favourites is Japanese design , I think even theyre writing looks cool!

A belated thanks for the welcome! Things have been a bit crazy - too much work (something I should not complain about) and the upcoming deadline on the book I am writing for HOW Design Books.

I hope to be able to spent a bit more time around here.

The book is kind of an irreverent look at the business of graphic design - using my own experiences over the last 25 years, along with those of other professionals from around the world. Lots of war stories, business examples and methods of running a design business that usually don't get mentioned in such books - much of it in my usual "smart ass" tone.

sounds interesting, 25 years is a long time to be in the business!
You'll have to let us know when its published.

I'd be interested in that book, let me know when it comes out. If it is good enough I might use it as a book recommendation for the courses that I teach in my Job (to degree level) on multimedia and web, if it is relevent to the students who may want to get into starting their own agencies so try not to make it too smart ass matey..
