This story has made me mad all morning! Right, Microsoft get kids interested in chatrooms and make it all easy and straight forward for kids to get into them, but dont want the costs of moderating them. They get some bad publicity so shut down the least profitable ones (dont think for one minute they give a fuck about the moral obligations)

Now, what are all the UK kids going to do now? They like chatting and its been taken away from them. Will they a)say "thats a shame, never mind I'll go and read a book or do my homework" or b)Gotta find me another chat room. My moneys on b) (I have 2 kids). Now, because of all the lazy reporting of this (Carol vorderman was on GMTV this mornign saying that MSN was the only free chat room ffs) , parents will think that the chat room problem has been solved and little johnny can safely left to his own devices on the PC.

What Microsoft should have done, is coughed up some money and paid to have their chat rooms moderated, as they are going to do in the good old us of a. But no. They're leaving all other kids and their parents stranded to work out the problem by themselves after being largely responsible for taking it the mainstream.

Wait, I never visited them. Were microsoft's chatrooms as good as DT's forum(s)?

but i dont think kids are really awear of the dangers that it can actually happen to them.
i've met people from the internet before but have ALWAYS been cautious.
