help with a scrolling image gallery
Hi everyone ! I'd really appreciate your help with this gallery, i've used a web-based tutorial to produce this gallery, and the client wants several of them, but with different amounts of images. I mastered the one with 15, but trying to change the code has become disastrous. Here are the links, the 'portrait' files are fine, but it's the 'advertising' files that I'm struggling with; portrait.fla portrait.swf advertising.fla advertising.swf Thanks so much in advance ! No, it doesn't help, and if you didn't know, when you directly view an .swf file in your browser, it is resized to fut the window, unlike when you give it a fixed width and height in a website. I do hope you're not a web designer. Can anyone help me with my problem ? |

#1 : What is your problem exactly ? #2 : What did you change in this code ? this .fla is really poorly executed, every line is written with absolute values where they should be related to the movies they're dealing with. eg : NOT scroll_length = 420; BUT scroll_length = myMovie._width; + CARELESS TALK COSTS LIVES +

The code is taken from a tutorial, so I'm not too sure on the quality of the code. My problem is that in Advertising.fla I need to make is scroll less to the right, so as not to just show blank, but I'm not sure how to do that. If someone could explain which line(s) i should be editing and how the values relate to the width of my image movie clip that would be really helpful. Thanks ! |

You're attitude sucks dude. How can you ask for help in such an ignorant fashion and actually expect to get it. Brooks preceded his post with "Not that this helps" but offered something else just in case you weren't aware of it. And you bit his head off. I've been in this game a long time and am always sure not to take on work that I can't handle and/or can't hire someone else to handle. All that said, if the solution you are using isn't working and you are spending too much time trying to figure it out then it's probably time to hit up your friend Google and find another way to achieve your goal. Can you make a direct copy of the one that works, portraits.swf, and replace the images within with those that are required for the advertising section? |

Give a man a fish and he will eat for one day. Teach a man to fish... and he'll sit in his boat all day swigging beer. Which is why I am promoting angling lessons for Sudanese refugees since the other way doesn't seem to be working right now. |
