Rich Internet Applications

Hi guys,

I am currently spending a lot of time with Adobe AIR as it is a very good tool to get into when it comes down to tieing your client's web-presence and bran into the user's desktop. Additinally, you can pretty much style the interface in any way you would want, be it round, wavy, the possiblities are almost endless, making it ideal to customize the interface to the company’s / client’s specific needs.

My plan is to develop an application with the following specifications for a client:
  • User-submitted photo gallery
  • Gallery information coming from the web-gallery through XML (the site is built in aspx)
  • The RIA notifies the user if new photos are added to a gallery
  • Ability to comment on photos through the RIA, updated on the website

The company I work for at the moment is doing a lot of work with .net, and some of them are keen to getting the same thing done via Silverlight, so it is a "dev-off" in a way.

Has anyone of you worked on anything with AIR/Silverlight yet, do you use any specific resources? Would you like me to keep you guys updated on how I am tackling the project, is there interest?

Kind regards,
ALEX
