I had this idea. Maybe somebody has a suggestion on it.

Let's say you wanted to set up a sort of empty player that played a couple forms of content.

This container would play an image file such as JPEG, defaulting to 8 seconds, and it would play swf files, and detect their timeline automatically.

If all the files were the same dimension that it would play, could this be done?

Maybe have a random or Alphabetical setting to play in a certain order. Or would it need an XML file to control the order and length.

Yes it could. It's basically the principal that most slideshow's out there work on. The only difference being testing for frame length on load. Check out MovieClipLoader and/or do a google search for flash image galleries. Combine with a _totalframes check onLoadInit and go from there.

I know it's been a long time. This project is still on the back burner, but I wanted to tell you I really appreciate your advice and direction.

If you want to hang on to this forum posting, I may proposition you to code this, if you know how and would want to take it on.
