Flash MX 2004

Does anyone know what is new in 2004? I just got my copy of MX a few months ago and now it's already outdated??

a few of my keyboard shortcuts don't seem to work and there's a behaviours window which i'm not sure was there in MX (its similar to the dreamweaver behaviours panel). it exports to Flash Player 7 rather than 6. i'm sure there are more technical improvements but those are just the ones i've noticed. it deals with small fonts slightly better as well. oh, and it has a spell checker.

I haven't got MX2004, but isn't that in your Publish Settings?
Ctrl + Shift + F12 unless the shortcut's changed.

oh yeah it is, i just thought that MX couldn't export to Flash Player 7, that the most recent it could export to was 6. maybe I'm wrong. i usually am. I didn't phrase it very well.

So should I be looking into getting a copy? Er, I mean buy a copy. I am actually thinking of studying to become a Flash pro. I think the future of web design is in flash. With so many people getting DSL these days (my grandma has DSL), I think Flash will take HTML as soon as it becomes search-engine visible.

the pair of you, watch your mouths. it'll never happen. flash is on its way out in its web based format. but it could take over from java as the control of choice for vcr's, tv's even microwaves as the power of action script increases.

I think it will be getting bigger and better for a good while yet - but 'the future of web design'? - bollocks.

Hospital database display: XML. HTML would be a pain.

Flash imports XML. Go figure. HTML is gone, guys. Sorry for those of you in love with it (hey, I am too... I hand-code everything I do in HTML, with a side of love), but there is most definitely a much better alternative for layouts.

PHP and such will probably stick around, for communicating with Flash, but seriously, what does HTML do? It lays stuff out. Can do the same stuff in Flash nowadays.

search engines, accessibility, load times, the fact that actionscript is one of the slowest languages in the programming world

all mean that html (read:xhtml) is here to stay

though flash makes my job a lot easier, have to face it every graphic designer who works for the web must know his xhtml, css, php/asp and flash as a minimum really..

In case you haven't noticed, Macromedia has already made big advances in both AS and Accessibility fields. Meaning they can do it. As far as load times go, the net is only getting faster...

And you're right. Every graphic designer who works for the web must know his blah blah blah... for now. Times will change, I can feel it. With more and more corporate sites done in Flash these days, I feel a trend.
