A game I'm working on....

Anyone want to be brave enough and try out a game I'm working on. It probably is considered alpha if you want to call it that since there are bugs, missing features that will be implemented and a design that will be improved of course. But I just want to get some early feedback as I'm working away. It will help as does all feedback.

This link will explain how the game works.

Collision detection is fucked, and what's to stop me just doing 3 lines that will contain the ball? Concept needs work, maybe fade lines over time?

Oh yea don't worry I'm planning to remedy the collision detection since right now it's checking for the ball's registration point, which is in the middle, and it can get wierd where the ball gets caught in some strange middle of the line. As for the line idea I am defenitely going to code up a little lifespan as well as restriction as to how much of a line you can create.

So yea it's all coming soon. But keep it coming I love getting feedback.

cool.. but in theory couldn't you just beat the game like this...

maybe the lines should disappear after so many hits on them

Ok guys, I've done some updates.

Updates
1 - line lifespan - lines die out over time and new ones must be created to continue on
2 - line restriction - lines have a restriction of how long they can be to prevent any looooong creations
3 - High Score - just a tally of the top scorers

So those are the main fixes and additions. Of course, I still have bugs to fix as usual but I'm hoping to have everything working fine by Tuesday. Keep the feedback coming.

imperez.com/?p=15

Just to give you guys some idea of what I have plan on top of design/bug fixes are:

1 - Instructions - has been added
2 - Power-Ups - i.e. add time, bonus points, etc
3 - Line Meter - controls the actual amount of line to create. Think of it as Spidey's webbing but you only have so much webbing to use until the metter is replenished
4 - Sound Effects and various forms of feedback on collision and buttons

Hmm, that may be true in some aspects but it's not how I work. I like to get things as feature complete as I can do so and then get to squashing those bugs. Especially when I know fixing those bugs aren't going to be a big issue. So I can focus on adding in the features that I know need to or should be in the game, in my opinion.

I mean don't get me wrong you are correct. The things that i listed that I want to add may or may not get added in the next few days. It's all about priorities. Such as sound and the line meter. I can see myself not having the time to finish this since this project is due on Tues. Power-Ups may be something else that I won't get to so most likely from this point on I will be bug squashing, but it never hurts to have a list of what you want to get in if you have the time later on.

Ok a few changes. I first had problems with getting the database that holds the high scores and I got rid of the all of them in an attempt to fix it. But then I figured out the problem. It's very silly but you have to add a "www" at the beginning of the site name if there is not one.

I'd make the lines go away after one hit, and it'd be cool if the lines jiggled when the ball hits it.

oh and i had problems entering a name and hitting send.

Fun! Quite addictive. Very easy to learn, surprisingly difficult to play well. Nice job!

Thanks for the feedback and I like that idea of making the line jiggle. Not too sure about making it go away after one hit but it is an idea that I'll defenitely try. It seems really interesting.
