font problems in flash
Hello all. We are currently redesigning our website (it will be built in Flash 8) and are having problems with choosing a font that is readable (many of our users will be 50+) when aliased in Flash. We started with Frutiger and after about a month of different tests are on the verge of ditching it in favor of a font designed specifically for the web. Our web designers say it has nothing to do with the font (so switching won't help) and more to do with the fact that it's viewed at 72 dpi. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the aliasing or rendering issues in Flash to question this - anyone have any ideas?? |

this is all very helpful - (mr. mik, I'm beginning to feel there is some the wisdom in your first point!) but can you give me some solid advice on what the problem is with using frutiger in flash (if there is one) and whether verdana or another font designed for on-screen use would be more appropriate? |

Although you said you're using flash 8 so maybe you don't either. |

we like it for design reasons, but are not convinced it's readable to everyone. so the question is, is there a better font choice at 10 point size (i.e. is our problem Frutiger), or is the problem with Flash (i.e. will another font make no difference)? Or neither? |
