Seeking XHTML/CSS Web Design Job...Desperately in Need of work!
I'm desperately in need of some work. I have been looking for web design/development work for about 2 months now and haven't found anything. I have other technical skills, so it doesn't have to be just web design. Here are my skills: XHTML CSS PHP (just starting to learn it) MySQL (just starting to learn it) Linux Administration Windows Administration PC Troubleshooting Basic Photoshop PSD to XHTML/CSS Conversion (you send me the PSD, I turn it into code) You can find my resume/portfolio online at Bryce Eason as well as a means to contact me by. |

i wouldn't even use 'developer'. honestly your skill set is less than impressive. why would anyone want to hire someone whos 'just starting to learn' php and mysql? "The four languages I use primarly are XHTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL. I use XHTML and CSS for valid, tableless layouts, which in turn keep the page loading way down for those dial-up users. I Use PHP and MySQL for all the serverside scripts such as the news system you see here, the contact page and a few behind the scenes things that can only be achieved through PHP and MySQL. In the future I will hopefully start serving pages from MySQL databases entirely which should make loading almost instantaneous." none of that even makes any sense. how does xhtml/css/tableless layouts keep 'loading way down for dial up users'? and loading pages from mysql databases is definitely slower than loading static html files. |

No need to give an explanation, though - any employer worth their salt would know the value of CSS-driven layouts vs. ye olde table layouts. Also, I think you're a bit young at 19. I'd just start with other (non-web) jobs and build up your skills/portfolio on the side. I didn't get my first web job until I was 24 (26 now and moving on to my second web job). I didn't even start learning HTML until I was 21. Don't be in such a rush. |
