Designing in Moscow
Hi, After spending 8 years in training to become an illustrator and graphic designer I am ready to dive into the real world of design. Too bad nobody here (Netherlands) can give me a job. The economic situation is not so good here now. I am pretty fed up with it. I know my skills and I know that I can make some good work in illustrating and also graphic design. But nobody gives me a chance. I know some people in Moscow and visited Russia a couple of times. It is truly a great country. But I can't seem to get a good vision about the market of design in Moscow. I have only seen little good work coming from Russian designers. I guess they do not advertise that much for themselves. Is there somebody who knows a bit about designing in Moscow? Is there a good market for illustration (editorial as wel as childrens books)? Maybe there are some Russian designers here who can give me an insight of the design world in Russia. Thanks |

Hah. I am Russian too. But as for me i dont think that Moscow is great place to grow. Perhaps you need to visit other countries before. But originally your problem was, you cant find job. Do you have printed portfolio, visit cards and CV? It is your tools to find some work. Come on. if you dont have any work done, why people should give you chance. Do work for free, than you can include it in portfolio. Show your self, and sell your self! Honestly I am thinking about move to other country. But it isnot cuz i am bad designer here. No i have got experience here and want get it in other countries. |
