Advice on self promotion
Hi all, I am new to this forum so apologies if this has ended up on the incorrect page. I am web designer from London, UK and am currently putting together my web portfolio to display for potential employees... I am currently employed by an agency/software development company, though some of my friends have told me that I would not be able to put links/screenshots of the work I have done whilst at my current employers on my site. I just wonder whether anyone has had any experience or problems doing this before, are there any legal implications (UK). I have always taken it for granted having worked free-lance previously. If anyone has any advice or could point me in the right direction that would be great. Many thanks DB |

To stay on the side of legality, you need to ask permission of the owners of your work - probably your employer's customers. Sometimes they grant it. Wouldn't hurt to let your employer know what you intend to do, either, just to keep things sweet. They could claim that work you do while in their employ belongs to them rather than you.
