You know what I can't stand? People who think that there is no such thing as the American language. I think there is. American has it's main roots in English, yes, but since this is an ethnic melting pot, and along with ethinicity comes language. There are also the dialects and such, like there is a Dutch language and a German language, but nobody trips about that. To me, Dutch is just a German dialect. American's have a dialect as well, why can't we be learning American IV in school rather than English IV?? How much longer before you click on my link?

You are joking arent you ? Dutch and German are completely different. American and English is the same - you just have a different accent , same as a scotish and new zealander has different accents; same language tho. ..................

I'm reading a book called 'Why do people hate America'. Theres a section in there about how the majority of Americans are quite ignorant to cultures, ideas and beliefs beyond their own. You seem to be confirming this. Maybe you should read it. |

Heh, there's a lot of them that confirm it quite regularly if you ever end up visiting one of the design boards with more of a north american base on it, it's even funnier when they blatantly admit it and still don't take the action to inform themselves. I do know some americans that are informed and accurate, but they're few and far between =\ audentes fortuna iuvat

Tomson I have another theory for you... Maybe some people hate America simply out of jealousy? Isnt it a little strange that if the USA sucks so bad and we Americans are such jerks that every culture, race and religion on the planet is represented here and more are trying to come by the boatload? I was in the military for awhile and went to many European, Middle-East and African countries and all I can say is "Wow. I am so happy to be an American". Personally, I'd question the agenda of a book titled "Why do people hate America". Wouldnt you wonder about a book called "Why do people hate the United Kingdom"? Its all a matter of perspective. |
