you don't know many DBAs, huh? i've been mildly aroused by a well structured db or an efficient index in a table. same with really clever and efficient code. if i reduce a redundant and sloppy code block down to 5-10 clean little lines of code... man, i need a cigarette. edit: about a month ago i was really excited when i got a php page full of mysql queries from 12 seconds to under 100ms by optimizing the queries and indexes. |
