Character Design Artist Required urgently in London (UNPAID)

Big Red Button is looking for a talented artist or illustrator to create a number of key characters for an animation pitch. The characters are to be 2D cartoon robots, predominantly android types, somewhat simplified and stylised – we are looking for interesting, distinctive characters with great scope for expression, which will look amazing against some detailed and more realistic backgrounds. Here are a few examples of the sort of style we were looking for: http://www.bigredbutton.tv/character_examples.htm This is a really nice opportunity for you to put your characterisation skills to use and draw up some robots that don’t look like all the robots we’ve already seen a hundred times before.

The project is unpaid at the moment but is currently pitching for development funding and there is a possibility of deferred payment. This first, one-off animation is also a pilot for a television series and there would be continuing professional work for the successful applicant. Ideas and enthusiasm are more important than professional experience. Please attach examples of previous work with your application or sketch us up something you think we'd like to see. Email applications to characters@bigredbutton.tv or you can post hard copies to Characters, Big Red Button, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL.
