The Big Move...maybe
What's up, cats. Upon snooping around the site, I noticed a lot of people on here are from Europe, more specifically, the UK. I am considering on moving to there or somewhere close, i.e. Ireland to spend sometime. Ha, I need to get out of the US for a little while. Anywho, I was wondering what the job market is like over there and what the possibilities where for a fellow from the States finding employment. Any links and/or advice would be appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon. |

well m8, I would recommend living in the UK as its a great place to be - only thing is you may miss the weather! Its better down south near london, essex etc but more expensive to live there. The north is generally a hell of a lot cheaper - one of the main reasons I moved up to manchester. In regards to the job market , at the moment I would say that it is not great. A lot of web design jobs at the moment expect you to know the whole package from design, programming, java etc etc. The days of having a separate graphics person, development team are gone within general companies. My current job and last two have involved me being a jack of all trades and then any work I couldnt do , ie the programming was done by a contractor. If your standard of work is very high Im sure you could get into a design agency. ..................

I can dig it...
That's no problem my man. Since I started designing, I've always done my own code anyway, so it's not big deal to me. Could you do me a favor and link me up to some sites that my help me get over there or slide me some info that can help the process along ie how to get a work visa, finding a new place, etc. Honestly, I'm not looking for anything earth shattering, just something I can live nicely off of because I plan to do a lot of traveling when I get over there. Thanks in advance, man. |
