Single dictionary word domain, but not a real useful one. The word isn't searched too often so not useful for SEO, not usefull for type-ins for the word and hurt further still by the extension. b.rains.info, t.rains.info are pretty pointless possible uses of the domain. http://it.rains.info/rests/sometimes.html

I'll give you 2 Marlboro Lights for it (only partially smoked) so long as you pay all transfer fees.

have to say I agree, doesn't help that some domain company was offering 20 free .info domains for nothing. If you could come up with a great site about rain info, it might be worth something with the content and traffic, but as it stands it's not worth much. Of course some body might be willing to give you big bucks and prove us all wrong, If you find that guy, let me know, I have 20 .info domains I would love to unload.

I got contxt.co.uk. Would suit a mobile marketing or mobile content provider type operation.

I was thinking of setting up a page with a script that turns normal sentences into sms-speak. And vice versa. Totally useless of course

What makes them worthless??? Are you saying that somehow they are less effective with search engines?? I just bought a .info domain name. I liked it because the name I wanted to use for the web site was available, but also because I wanted an emphasis on the fact that the site was informational --which is all provided for free. I want the focus off the organization. So by your POV, I made a mistake???

No, you asked what it was worth and I replied with my opinion.

Over the last few years I have made quite a bit of cash from buying and selling domain names - and in my experience .info domains are worthless - You will get zero type ins.

With regards the search engines, the domain really has little effect. I could get beefsteakrecipes.org.uk to rank as highly as rains.info for the keyword rains if I so desired.

I am sorry. I just don't understand what you mean. I don't know what the expression "zero type ins." means. I think it's the "ins." Hmm--no, not "insurance." However, if I'm ok with search engines, then I think overall, I'm ok ----no????

If you optimise the site then yeah, you could get the site ranked for any term.

Type ins = when someone goes to the address bar and types www.rains.info.
