Would a new site on an old dot com outrank an already established dot net domain
Hi, Just wondering would putting a site on an old dot com domain (And with a bit of backlink building) outrank an already established dot net domain with lots of backlinks? (Both are the exact same domain name) Any info appreciated |

If it's the exact same site, I don't think it matters much in terms of ranking. If the site is already established on the .net domain, just forward the .com to that. Code:

The fast answer is no -- the second the overall content of the .com is changed, it's ratings/rankings will essentially go out the window. It's links will change and/or break, the external references will no longer be relevant to it, etc... It's better to just SEO your way up on a purpose-built domain. |
