Is Canaca.Com that good?

When I first visited Canaca.Com I was blown away by their web hosting plans. I mean for $3.95/month you could get 5000mb storage space and 100gb bandwidth! In addition, there was also free templates for your websites. As good as it sounded, I thought to myself that there must be something more to it than that. No web hosting company I visited ever had a plan near half of what Canaca gave you.

I've heard from other clients that they didn't give them an account after they paid while others say that they randomly deleted their web hosting after paying.

Is this true and is Canaca.Com a total rip-off?

I did not find bad reviews for them but 5000mb/100gb for $3.95 is look like they oversell or bumpin' the market. Of course this is a personal opinion only. I can not say whether they are reliable or not.

D.

I think you'll find that you get that price if you pay 2 YEARS in advance. That's pretty misleading to be honest. You'll be locked into it for a minimum of 2 years. I'm with nzwebit and I need to get out the sooner the better, and I've got another 6 months on my contract but I'll be moving my stuff over to something a bit more pro in like 3 months...be very careful.

Yes, Canaca.Com is a total rip-off. After buying 2 years hosting from them, my account has been suspended without any notification with the only suggestion to upgrade to dedicated server.

Most hosting companies offer abundant space and other features because it is rule of thumb that out of 10 only 1 customer consumes whole features in any package (specially disk and bandwidth). Now imagin you get 9 customers with your fancy packages and you can easily kick the only one that consumes the package. You still earn 9 customers )

Moral of the story is that, my friend, do not count on inexpensive hosts offering ridiculous disk space or bandwidth..

My 2 cents....

That's called "overselling" folks - a very deceitful (and probably illegal) practice. Terminating a contract because a person is using their alloted space/bandwidth is grounds for a lawsuit, I'd say - I know I'd sue if a host did that to me.

He's right. Don't trust it.

Even though this is a dead thread.
