spam injections

not really sure where to put this, so i'll stick it here.

I have just been tracking down a bunch of spam messages which were going through our linux server. after tracing the mail to the user ID i have manage to clear the mail queue.

the user who's account/ contact script that was being abused uses a CGI script to send mail. Has anyone had any experience in stopping these types of spam injection, we run CentOS 5, plesk 8.3.

any sort of related info which i can read up on would be appreciated.

mod_security may be able to help? otherwise you are going to have to force the user to stop using that script.
