Would you buy from a host who uses PayPal

Been looking at a few hosts, found one I really like the look of, but they use PayPal for payments.

Would you avoid? Heard contrasting stories about companies who use PayPal.

Thanks.

I would rather pay "anyone" by Paypal than give them my credit card details.

i probably wouldn't but metrics show that the more options you offer people, the more likely they are to cough up. it depends what you're comfortable with.

Had a check round as the host is located in my home town, and the complex where they are situated seems professional.

I do hear mixed things about PayPal, some say its brilliant and more secure, others say its only for small businesses who cannot be bothered.

as long as they offer other payment methods. If they rely on it - what happens if there account ever gets frozen because of some credit card fraud chargeback?

we use PayPal and don't see the need to change to anything else to be honest.

But i have heard that some find the system unprofessional and amateurish

I think that was the general feeling a while ago, but since eBay have taken over PayPal it seems much more professional, ie you no longer have register and become verified to buy using credit card.

I think alot more businesses are turning to PayPal IMO.

No problems at all with paypal here, whether its buying hosting or anything else. There used to be a stigma around them, but hey.... if they take your money and give you good service then whats the difference?

I don't like PayPal because they aren't a bank, they aren't an accredited financial institution, they aren't insured by the FDIC. If you use PayPal and they (the seller/merchant) take your money without providing the agreed upon service, you're fucked.

Here's what happened to me:

"Dear PayPal, this person stole $30 from me. I bought something from them 100% positive feedback and never got the item. The exact same thing happened to three others that week. I've done my research, I know their names and where they live. Please rectify the situation."

"Dear pgo, That account has been emptied, so we can't get your money back for you. Here's $5. Have a nice day and enjoy your PayPal experience."

Fuck you, PayPal.

I think if a web host only accepts Paypal then I would avoid them as it does seem a little unprofessional. If they accept Paypal as well as all the usual credit cards directly I wouldn't have a problem using them.

It doesn't necessarily mean their service isn't up to scratch, they are more than likely just a new company. I know from experience that it can be tricky to get a merchant account when you are a new company in that industry.
