Is VPS any good?

Just been offered an upgrade from our shared hosting to a VPS account - does anyone have experience of running their site on VPS, and what the advantages/disadvantages are?

The company is: https://www.webfusion.co.uk/vps/

If anyone has experience of hosting with these guys then your info would be all the more useful!

VPS is better than shared because it's cheaper than dedicated and you're usually guaranteed certain amount of CPU power, RAM, etc - like a miniature dedicated server. If you're running highly active web apps - like a forum with 50+ users online at any time - you'll want a VPS.

sweet, I think I'm gonna go for that - it looks pretty flexible, and at least we won't go down because of dodgy neighbouring scripts, which apparently was the cause of our downtime issues. Cheers pgo!
