Last year I was left extremely broke after lots of weddings and stags so for 2017 I'm going things booked in early. Weddings can fuck off.

Budapest in May - Got a great deal on a decent hotel.

Nerja (Spain) in August - Got a mates apartment for a week as an early 30th birthday present.

San Diego and surrounding area in October.

Any tips on what to see and where to eat for the above locations?

My last holiday was my honeymoon in 2011, since which time I have had no money with which to go on holiday. This shows no signs of changing.

Come on down to Brighton for your hols Steve. I'll give you a nice couch. We can head to Yates between 5 - 8pm for half price drinks. Then sneak over to Spoons to get a nice view of West st from the first floor. Once the drink kicks in we'll head up to the Green door store to dance. Usually free entry and I'm sure we can manage to sneak some cans in. We can finish the night off with a trip to Albion Kebabs for a slap up kebab for £3.

    *Breakfast not included.

    Don't forget the sauna!

What a nice offer. I'd take you up on that myself if I lived a little closer!

Maybe while he's down you can take Eeyore to the beach and enter him in a derby.

I stayed a little up the road to Nerja ten years ago. Not much going on in the area nightlife wise, a spattering on nice restaurants, bars, 'clubs' pubs and Irish bars. There are a lot of time share apartments and ex-pat Brits so it is a little bit stereotypical little England in places. Lovely beaches and some decent coastal scenery around there though. I would say try to get to Malaga, but you are a bit further out than we were and Taxi's are a cunt.

In San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter is where it is all at. You can take a stroll down to the harbour during the day, but at night it is fairly devoid of nightlife other than one nice restaurant https://www.roysrestaurant.com/locations/ca/waterfront which is a Hawaiian fusion restaurant. Lovely food there.

La Jolla up the road is a good shout, nice surf, lovely coastline and decent food places. you canny go wrong with finding Taco shacks and other street food in these areas. San Diego Zoo is an absolute must IMO.

Cheers Klang. I've been warned that by the guys that own the apartment about it being little England in places. Will probably rent a car for a couple of days to get our a see more of the coast.

San Diego sounds great. What part did you stay in?

Ta, looks good. Will probably get a Airbnb/self-catering because I'll be there with two mates and we'll all want our own rooms.

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest it other than it has a nice bar and pool. Other than that is was a very business orientated hotel. Air BnB didn't exist when I was there!

Newport Beach (north) and San Clemente are also great as you're in the vicinity.

Yeah. It's always worth spending one day of your life in a place where seemingly every fucker owns a yacht!

Just so happens I know a few fuckers with Yachts. So I live my life vicariously through their riches. I am even going to spend a long weekend on a yacht in the med next year. haha.

Also off to Utah/LA in the late summer + Paris, and Cornwall in the Van.

Want to do same in Feb. I get massive discount golf/accommodation for a few nights in the Marriot just out of town (a bonus of the golf club I joined here). Lisbon looks fucking ace.

One main strip. There are other roads with more standard café fair that is good for breakfast and lunch and some of them one litre jugs of beer (as per my old Twitter av). There is then some other offerings splattered around the city. There is a modern marina with casino and some restaurants in one direction, in another a fancy shopping and cinema complex then the old marina with the modern art gallery and some restuarants.

The main strip is Bairro Alto and there is a new contender to the block Cais do Sodré but when I was there there was just one very good Irish bar that did live music.

This guy's guide to Lisbon has some good info through it: http://www.johnnyfd.com/2016/07/johnnys-guide-to-lisbon-portugal-for.html
He seems to think is becoming Europe's version of Chiang Mai for remote working. Chiang Mai was somewhere I enjoyed working from earlier in the year. But I'm not sure I can be arsed with another trip to SE Asia anytime soon so Lisbon might be a nice spot. Will just see if I can get a monthly rental via AirB&B

Lisbon looks great. Hoping to go there for a civilized stag do. When you are dying with a hangover in Lisbon go for a francesinha sandwich, it's the ultimate Portuguese hangover cure. The pub round the corner from work was serving then for a while. All kinds of goodness.

Not doing much this year. Going to Reading Festival in August. Might be heading to https://www.bikeparkwales.com/ with some mates in May and possibly back to Wales with the missus later in the summer and then here http://www.enchantedforest.org.uk/ early October.

If (and it's a big if) the Euro picks up I might mooch abroad for a long weekend in the summer.

Had a great weekend there. I'd recommend walking up to the castle for a great view of the parliment building and the rest of the city from across the river, also worth going up the top of the bascilica for views too. The thermal baths are a great hangover cure and have some nice eye candy. For nightlife check out the ruins bars, the biggest is Szimpla, it's a very cool drinking venue and stays open late, but was mainly tourists. A decent bar with mostly locals was Kuplung, it was 570HUF for 2 pints on Monday (about £1.60) and it has a live music bit joined on - had a DJ playing on Monday but live band on Sat.

6:30am flight home yesterday was an absolute killer.
