A load of old tosh or genuinely tailored for Wordpress sites?

https://www.uk2.net/services/wordpress/

https://www.easyspace.com/web-hosting/wordpress

I need a fast, reliable UK based host for 2 x Wordpress sites.

    Whats your budget?

If you can afford it, WP Engine is excellent: https://wpengine.com/plans/ (they have a UK datacentre)

Probs just a bit too much for us for 2 sites (with the possibility of another one coming soon).

Might give these guys a go, seem like quite a small company but free CDN, NGINX environment and lots of good reviews.

Looked for about 10 seconds got two can we help you chat pop ups from two different people and closed the site. I'll take your word for it that they're a good host but their own site was slower to load than Scroobles and the in your face TALK TO US!!!!!! shit just drives me nuts.

We are with WPE. They are great and have really good caching. They have had about 5 massive cockups this year (maybe not all their faults).

That said if you have the dollar they are still worth the investment.

I use Tsohost for personal and can't complain.

Whatever you do don't go with easyspace. Utter shite.

We use tsohost too, although they've been getting a hell of a lot of DDOS attacks and suchlike recently: Tsohost Status Centre

TSOHost and Vidahost are the same firm - and yes, they have been getting a ton of DDoS.

For a 'cheaper' version of WPE - Check Siteground:
    https://www.siteground.co.uk/wordpress-hosting.htm

Oh ... and UK2/ easyspace doing WordPress hosting - bandwagon/ no different to their normal shite hosting.

The massive companies are usually the worst. 123-Reg, Heart Internet, UK2, GoDaddy, HostGator, 1and1, Fasthosts, Namecheap, etc... they all put far too many sites on each server and you end up with a really slow site.

This company is really good, the only hosting company I have been with that you can actually phone up and speak to someone within a few rings. https://www.tsohost.com/web-hosting/wordpress-hosting

These days they'll even migrate your site for you. Use the code DESIGNERSTALK and get 10% off.

At the moment if you use the code DDOS you get 80% off your site speed and uptime. :(

Have you guys had downtime at all due to the DDOS on TSO?

Hate to say it, but I like Media Temple

Really good uptime (I've had one site operational now for 18 months without a blip pingdom error - it is a VPS tho). Great support. Great docs. Range of services. Cloud hosting.

I've always been first to recommend tsoshost as their support is top notch. Recently though its been getting really bad - I've placed support query in after support query and although they do get replied to quickly another problem happens a day or so later.

We've had sites which have not so much been offline but really slow to load in the frontend (which is bad enough) but Wordpress admin areas have been stupidly slow. I mean, seriously, pre-dialup when data was carried by mangy carrier pigeons.

We're seriously looking for another host now (siteground looks interesting); whilst we understand its not tsohost who is causing the problem (more the pillocks who do the DDOS attacks), ultimately we get calls from clients asking why their sites are slow which (1) is our main concern and (2) makes me regret singing tsohost's praises as we now look like a bunch of numpties.

Just checked the support site - yesterday it was slow loading 'o' sites and now apparently its 'Slow loading on ‘n’ sites'…

Yep. Loads these past few weeks but, generally, most weeks.

I've got a running joke with their tech guys "Todays downtime is brought to you with the domain ..."

Oh ... and same as Moz - Seriously looking around - will probably go with Siteground.

Oh shit... didn't realise things had got that bad with their cloud platform. I've since moved to VPS - but you have to learn a lot to manage your own server so couldn't recommend that in this case.

Cheers for the honest thoughts kids.

Do I even need a UK server to help with my SEO, or will a fast server with CDN be enough?

Personally I would recommend a UK host over a US host, not for SEO reasons, but for speed and support reasons.

So consider Ireland (Amazon) or FR/DE/NL hosts over US if you can't find a UK host.

If budget allows, go for WP engine even if they are US only because I've heard good things aside from what has been said here.

It's so hard finding good shared hosting.

Another consideration is Rackspace Sites, they have UK servers and a CDN service

Tsohost is having yet another DDOS attack today; the 'o' cluster apparently. Over the weekend it was the 'n' cluster and last week it was (if I recall) the 'p' cluster.

Methinks the hackers are playing some sort of 'DDOS Hangman' game.

Started to trial this at work today https://pantheon.io/features/wordpress-hosting absolute grease lighting so far.

They have caching on the admin area which makes a massive difference.

Most Cpanel/plesk linux based host should support WP hosting with no problem. I have had some blogs hosted with kvchosting and I'm completely satisfied. I think you can try using them as well.
