I have a client who wants do ditch her current web host and e-commerce system, as well as a complete website redesign. The website in question (I haven't touched it yet) is The Back Country - Outdoor Outfitter, Fly Shop & Light Tackle The site is somewhat popular with 10 to 20 online orders a month depending on season. The system that cart runs on is Cart 32, an extremely expensive commercial CGI cart system for Windows servers. For just one Cart 32 license it costs upwards of $1000. Thankfully my client did not have to pay this because the web host owned the licenses. But if she switches hosts she will lose the system and be forced to buy her own license.

So therein lies my problem. The client has become quite accustomed to Cart 32 and as far as I can tell there are no other open source or relatively cheap cart systems that operate similarly to Cart 32.

In Cart 32 when you want to add an item to your store you log in to the admin interface and fill out a few forms about the item, then Cart 32 generates an HTML Form that can be copied and pasted into the source of the page. When somebody buys the item their shipping and payment information is then processed by Cart 32 and sent to my clients secure Email address. My client then processes the information manually with a credit card machine and sends the item on its merry way



So in this configuration the store and the cart application are completely separate. Any help on the subject would be awsome. Thanks in advance.
