When WordPress is able to deliver separate logged in/non-logged in content, it will be the perfect CMS. When my clients need a separate, members only area, I use CMS Made Simple and its Front End Users (FEU) module.

That's one hefty PDF file too!

Sounds like Joomla! to me. Although it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it however I'll never recommend it to a client again. It took way too much work for my client to get the hang of it however now he's a whiz at it but it took more work than a CMS should have. So in essence I agree with you, it has to be easy to use without needing to learn the CMS it's self.

one easy and free cms is Zimplit, itīs quite new and advancing, but just great for smaller websites. It has online editor and no admin area, you can edit everything right on site. Itīs free and you can use any html or css template.

MODx is also a very nice option. Very easy to understand templating system, small footprint, highly customisable, full AJAX...
