$1M aint gonna buy a whole lot of development time, not as that matters since the prize is only $20K's worth of shite, at least 5% of which is only good to you if you live in Oz, and another ~2.5% is for fucking bigpond vouchers so you can play the damned game you had the idea for sounds fabulous |

It is only open for Australians to enter. It is for ages 5 and up! It is for Online gaming and for Mobile Phones.. $1m is a lot! It's a competition so any prize is better than nothing! Even if it is "Only" worth $25 thousand dollars! |

it's $20K which is about £8.5k, not to be sniffed at, but it isnt cash, it's Crap™ $1M AUS - about £425K - surely it'll be in-house devs so where exactly is that $1M being invested? It's on a piece of fucking paper so they can stick it in their tax return. Meanwhile Mr Marketing is snorting coke out of a high class whores crack in the afternoon while some sorry fucker is writing the bloody code for fifteen bucks an hour and a bowl of noodles. anyway, moot point, the winner see's nothing of the $1M so why is it being dangled? "the next big idea in video games" - if i have that i aint giving it away for eight grand to a fucking ISP sorry to sound so negative but this type of thing does really annoy me - bottom line is you dont have to be a designer or developer to enter this so the likelyhood is some kid has a bright idea, wins the package, feels good, so fair play - all the while being majorly raped in the ass by corporate swine. C'est la vie |

I'm not being funny here proc, but the competition is open to 5 year olds and up... When you were 5, wouldn't you have been happy with all that money in vouchers etc? How many parents would let their kids have that kind of money? None, in their right minds... And as has been said above... Any prize is better than none, and getting new ideas for game design from the kids that are playing them can only encourage kids to look into it as a career... Which is no bad thing, either. Lighten up. My signature sucks.

Proc's right tbh. May sound like a cynical old fart, but hit the nail on the head with this one. Decent games aren't scribbled on the back of a postcard by 5 year olds. How can a game be both online and on a mobile phone? Does anyone play online games on their mobile, fuck me that must be slow/shit/expensive. I know decent games can take years to make, with large teams of developers, usually with a budget of several times more than 1 Million Oz Dollars. I can see this just being some shit competition to make a shitty little java game for mobile phones. Such games take a single developer, what, a month to create? Obviously if I was 5, and won this competition I would be chuffed, but I am not, and no one else here is remotely that young - so you have the wrong target audience mr spammer. |
