If we wanted to keep the logo could we? I'm not saying is nice or anything but it's pretty much branded the company now.

yahoo is probably a good site to redesign - i don't like it either: too messy, too much information in your face... - but it just had a... ahem... 'redesign'...
-still-
what I was hoping was that maybe the winning design could be offered to the site owners - to buy [i:ac5e328741]and[/i:ac5e328741] with designerstalk as a middleman (!) or copyright owner - that could maybe generate some money for (even) bigger prizes?!?
something like that, anyway... am I dreaming?

[quote:7ad0ce3554]what I was hoping was that maybe the winning design could be offered to the site owners [/quote:7ad0ce3554] I dont think yahoo would want it to be honest worth bareing in mind for the future though.

Would be good if a company looking for a design could sponsor the competition, they pick the winner and they have it developed into a full site, the winner gets the fee from the work.

no, not in Yahoo's case - don't think so either - they are too big, anyway.
what they might get out of it though is a free advice on what and how to improve things. And maybe even 'borrow'... (do we want that?)

that sounds interesting too! would be nice though to involve designerstalk as an instance that would benefit too! then we could maybe join forces with the development?
but about picking the winner - i'm sorry - but I'd dare to question the authority of 'them' vs 'us'... call me paranoid

You said swift was for idiots - Im just wondering what you think would be good prizes; to give me some ideas for the next one really. It was hard thinking of companies to contact - macromedia and adobe didnt even reply. I guess we are not big enough at the moment, so I tried smaller companies.

hey, try Deneba Systems - they guys behind Canvas... it really is a superb package... Maybe they are not too big and not too much up their own...?
*am I promoting it too much?*
Could also try Creature House - they do the Expression natural media proggy (which is supposed to be a bit of a 'designers's secret'!)
*am I promoting it too much too?*
