Y'know, I'm not entirely sure. I suppose our society deems anyone younger to be unable to handle money safely and effectively - although you can say the same for a lot of older people! It might be the case that you're not allowed to have credit until you're 18, but I'm pretty sure you'd be able to have a debit card - Or do you mean "receive money online"? |

Hell, I had a merchant account setup so i took in online payments for e-commerce site when I was 15. I'm sure you can find a way. I don't know what the age limit is for Paypal, I feel like if you have a debit card you should be able to use it, but maybe that's not the case. Fringe Focus | Design Blog

I went to the bank to open up a business account about two weeks ago, and they told us we had to be over 18. Dunno if that applies everywhere though. |

I guarantee you it's not like that everywhere. It's entirely dependent on what country you are in, which isn't very clear with either you or Tim. |

He was merely pointing out different countries have different laws. So trying to make any assumptions without anyone stating where they're from is a bit unhelpful. The kid posting this thread is American, you're Irish - which isn't actually stated anywhere, and Tim is also American which isn't stated anywhere but on his site. |

I was in a very similar situation. Get your parents to open a checking account with you, and then use that to send and receive money. It's not the most professional, but at 16 you aren't going to need a business account or anything. Avoid Paypal if you can. |
