The best places to find clients?

what is the best place to find clients for a company? there are a lot of websites like "ifreelance", but which one you can recomend? I have never used this kind of website to find a job. Plese give me some advice - I mean addresses . example: is getafreelancer good?

None of them unless you're living in a country with an extremely low cost-of-living or are doing this for fun since making your millions elsewhere.

craiglist & authentic jobs have both pulled in some good clients for me over the years.

Depends on location, as already mentioned.

Can you not source local businesses to start with? Your in New York so I reckon there's a load of small to medium businesses you could tap into quite quickly and easily.

Like someone already said, freelance sites tend to attract shady business people who want to hire someone from a country like India where $50 is a lot of money. They usually expect the world for a pittance and making any real money on these sites is very difficult. If you don't mind dramatically lowering your prices, try Elance.com. It isn't free [they give you 3 free credits a month], but if you do good work at very low prices then the site could work for you. With the weak state the dollar is in, if you live anywhere that has a stronger currency than the states then working solely online via these sites may not work for you.
