Logo price advice
I don't normally do work on the side (for money), but the opportunity has just come along to do a logo for a company that is sponsoring an upcoming event. Thing is that I don't have time to dedicate to it during work hours (that's for DT posting I know I should ask him a few questions first about his company to not look like a gold digger (though I could do with the extra cash). It will make my life a hell of a lot easier making a proper logo for him as the logo he provided was no good (and it's not that other one I showed in the bad logos thread). Should I ask for €1,000,000 for the job with half as a deposit? Seriously though. I've no idea how much to charge for a logo. Any tips appreciated. Should I prepare some sort of contract so I don't get burned? Any one got a template that won't scare the bejaysus out of him? Thanks. And sorry for the long post (I guess I could have made his logo by now). |

Oooh, fucking hell mate. You're going to poach the work off your company, so you can earn the cash for yourself? And the client is a close business partner of your boss? Oh dear. Oh fucking dear. Proceed with caution... Is it entirely your decision whether your company turns away work due to you 'no time to dedicate to it during working hours'? Surely your boss should be the judge of that? |

I am planning to let my boss know about it. Right now. And yes I was joking about the million. The thing is that I'm an in-house designer for a non-design orientated company so it's not like I am stealing business from the company. The opportunity came up because some other guy doesn't have a clue about making a proper logo. At least that's how I see it. But I don't want problems for myself which is why I am being straight up with my boss. If he has problems with it I won't go near it and won't be bitter. |
