Quoting issues

I am still having a bit of trouble getting this quoting thing sorted out in my new freelance career.

If somebody asked you to quote for designing and builing a website similar to http://www.steel-city.co.uk/

What would you charge?

Obviously it will be easy to produce a better design, but based on the size, what do you reckon?

Personally it would be about a weeks work, maybe less so I'd charge around £1000- or £25 per hour . Thats just me though - everyone has different rates.

[quote:2aadc61043]should take no longer than a day [/quote:2aadc61043] including a couple of concept designs, scanning of images, consulting with the client etc etc ?
Its possible if you nail the design exactly how they want it first time but there is always a few changes to made and also the client likes to think they are getting their money's worth.

i know but this day and age clients really do expect concept charges to be dropped - - its hard enough to get them to spend 1500 let alone another 500 for being creative.

i f*cking hate web w*nk clients anyway.

today £800 for an a4 leaflet folder - one image on the front . client signed - cheers - best 450 i have made in an hour every.

you would never get a web client like this

i'd go for an hourly rate - it'll stop them dragging their heels and wanting a constant flow of changes. Theres nothing worse than saying an amount and then having the client piss you about. I usually go for 20-35 an hour depending on the client.

yeah i agree with Tomson, put an hourly rate in and don't start until you receive all content and I mean all.

Then I'd kick off at around £25 an hour.

I think including concepts it would take me about 3-4 days

1 day = 8hrs

4 * 8 = 32

32 * 25 = £800

but clients don't like paying more than £500
