Useful tools / applications

I was just wondering if anyone had come across some useful online / offline applications that help them run their business?

For example - the following have helped me loads:

Base Camp - project management
blinksale/ - online invoicing
Time Edition - Working out actual time spent on projects / invoicing

Can anyone add any other URL's that help them run their business?

If you like Blinksale for online invoicing, you should also check out -->simplifythis.com<-- it's a much more intuitive web 2.0 application that lets you easily invoice your clients by email and get paid faster online.

I found this the other day - nice for getting a good palette together - COLOURlovers :: Color Trends + Palettes

Also MindMeister - think together seems quite good for online project collaboration

I have already said this in my reply to someone's post about Basecamp, but for collaborative project management and employee time tracking:
I customized the open source Streber. It's awesome, in my opinion, especially if you are doing any software applications - there is a bug tracker feature. [streber-pm.org]
I would definitely check it out - clients can get e-mail updates when their stuff is updated, etc. I use the task#'s associated with each job in my invoicing and also I name my files starting with that number.

For timing, on Windows I used to use Outlook's journal timer. On the Mac, I have my employees use Work Timer [macupdate.com/info.php/id/19431] Also free, and you can have any number of projects named, you can pause, etc.

For invoicing, I use Quickbooks (not free, of course)... the 2008 version has a really good Template Designer that let me customize all my invoices/statements to match my current stationery.

I have to check out Greenworld's "myintervals" though - sounds good?

Sorry for the shameless self promotion, but I figured our tools might be relevant here.

If anyone is sending email newsletters for their clients then you might find our products useful, they're build specifically for web designers: MailBuild (mailbuild.com) and Campaign Monitor (campaignmonitor.com).
