Client flow
Hey oh! I know that most of these threads are just repeats, but I feel as everyone else asking similar questions, the other threads dont answer my question completely. Okay lets get it on. I am not a new designer who owns frontpage and wants to make money doing it. I am new, but not new enough to ask silly questions, hehe. I hate frontpage with a passion! Dreamweaver is the way to go! So I am planning the big move from freelancer to full time. I would like some idea of the client flow people have. I used to get my clients from bidding sites, but now I get them from other clients and/or work for them part-time/out source. From just having my set up and word of mouth through other clients (i think?) I get about 2 to 3 clients a week from there without me looking for them. THe project ratio depends on how many projects my other clients have for me during that month. I planning to some good marketing, and SEO for my site when I go full time. I had a client who has a company said he got 3 to 6 client emails a day. I dont know how true this is, or how he got them. I am now making $2,000 a month, little bit less or more depending on how much I work, and want to make or time for. I am making $24,000 a year. Which is enough for a single person to live with. Not 100% secure or comfy, but I could do it. When I live by myself, and work full time. I want to make more so I can live comfy, and securely. So I would love to make about $3,000 to $5,000 a month (that would be with design work, and commission from other personal). So I would like to be earning 36k to 60k a year. Now if this is to unreasonable, please hit me with a reality check. How much do you make a year fulltime? partime? freelance? Also how much would you think the business owner that also did the design work, and took commission from each package bought? Thanks for any help! I would love to know what I am getting into |

It's not unreasonable, depending on the standard of your work. you need to work out an hourly rate, there are lots of threads about this http://www.designerstalk.com/forums/...earchid=293970 How much you charge will also depend on the quality and level of service you are offering - it doesn't matter that you know dreamweaver is the better design package, can you design? if your design work is at a proffesional level you can charge the rates you want, if you are a self taught bedroom designer with no commercial design experience it'll be toughter to justify the higher rate to clients and you may want to look at getting some agency experience under your belt. |
