How to get sponsorship from companies
Has anyone got any good experience of getting products from companies in exchange for exposure? I want to start giving prizes away for competitions we run, but other than writing to companies, i'm not really sure about the best way to approach companies whose products we like. Does anyone know the best way to get cool free stuff to give away? |

Bit more info would be useful, what audience are you targeting the prizes at, age, interests? this will be relevant to whether or not your sponsors will be interested. How big is your audience now? Can you measure and prove that? |

In my experience companies can be pretty tight when it comes to sponsorship unless you can prove a high level of exposure. Best way to approach is to write to companies with your proposal and the benefits to them. Also, I as far as I know, legally you will need to prove that you are not just going to keep the products or give them away to your family and pals! |

what audience are you targeting the prizes at, age, interests? We're targeting designers, ages 18 - 35ish, mainly male at the moment, with interests in design, fashion, music. We're quite a new company so dont have a huge amount of people registered, but we will hopefully gain more users once we start advertising. We wanted to advertise when we can give away stuff so that it'll get more people involved. |

I don't think there's any way of proving that. It's just one of those weird things. When you pick a submitted email at random for some reason they're often people you know. spooky. |

Give them a ring and speak to them. A couple of mates and myself run a free print publication and we're always on the blag. It's taken a little while to get some kind of respect/approval or whatever that manufacturers and companies now realise we're not a load of chancers. If you're a new company/website then i wouldn't expect to get much unless your blagging skills are up to par. |
