How many hours does it take you?
Ho many hours does it take you to put together the average website's layout together? From scratch through to ideas through to creating the template. I'm trying to justify the 10hours spent on putting the ideas together, and creating a layout for a website (flash header etc). decent web hosting - www.balue.com

i charge 3 hours of my time for a homepage layout for homers... here at work - i still take no more than 3 hours but if we charged that we wouldnt be doing very well. We usually quote a day for design: 7 hours. It's tryue - it depends on how creative you are feeling that particular day so i would always reccomend blocking off a day. |

First start off with a development map: So for the planning stage, outline what you do when planning. Then associate how long it roughly takes you to work through each portion of 'planning'. On larger projects I have spent a good 30-40 hours (or a week or so) on just planning - so that I don't have to re-do half of it and waste my time just before project soft launch. A basic site usually requires anywhere from 4-8 hours of planning (depending on if you like or are good at it, and if the client is organized). |
