Hmmm, I'm not sure about your body text on the front page (about). Obviously you're going for a niche market but, I don't know, it just says cheap to me rather than reasonably priced. There's a place in leeds that does a similar thing. And they sell it much better too. http://www.redmilk.co.uk/index.html Quote:
With small sites like yours, they jumps around in browsers like mozilla/firefox when the page isn't long enough for a vertical scroll bar as it's only IE that draws a ghost scrollbar. This might not mean anything to you but I've tried to fix this in the past by using Code:
There's no way I'd download an .exe file without knowing what it was. What are they in the portfolio section? You should brush up on your coding skills (if you're the coder of the site anyway). Learn XHTML and CSS. That's fuckin' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. It's a Swiss fuckin' watch.

I've neglected the site for some time now... I totall agree about the "about section". I'm gona have to sort it out. The thing is, no one visits the site. I never get any jobs from it so the pressure isn't really being applied. But you right, totally wrong approach. My initial idea was to join up with a designer. I never realy saw myself as a "designer" as such. I've been working on a generic E-commerce site for the past while. So I'm more of a programmer. Eventually I'll get around to finding someone... With regards to the exe files... There flash projector files... I did them when I was 16 - 18. I think. There were always mean't for CD ROM... (job CV's etc.) I supose I was just t0o lazy to embed them properly. I'd of had to sort out preloading etc... And as I said no one really looks at the site. Cheers for the comments. Much appreciated. [font=Verdana] I actually went to your site and made an attempt at using the form to send you some work samples. The form didn't work. The following animations were all done for classes and require sound and Flash for viewing. "Dangerous World" (an ad advertising a product that would never sell) Link: http://maximuza.com/dangerousworld.html "Cupid Reject" (weird and interactive) Link: http://maximuza.com/cupidreject.html "MTV Cribs: Osama's Cave" (my first Flash animation back from Emedia) Link: http://maximuza.com/osama.html "Animation + Interactivity Class Intro" (raster file animation experiment in Flash) Link: http://maximuza.com/aiintro.html "Apple Intro" an experiment in using raster images in Flash) Link: http://maximuza.com/aiintro.html *My website is not yet built (long overdue!), but one can find a link to my temporary online portfolio at http://maximuza.com. Recent projects are at the end, starting at http://maximuza.com/worksamples/mp24.html. In addition, here are direct links to projects that are not yet featured in that portfolio: Lucille Tanazas book cover design: Link: http://maximuza.com/images/ltcover.jpg Logo Sheet of selected identity designs: Link: http://maximuza.com/images/maximuzalogosheet.gif Betty's Playing Cards: Link: http://maximuza.com/images/bettycards.gif |

Why ever not? And, if you have a site and are talking to a client they are very likely to then have a look, I'd ensure your site is up to standard at least as far as your client in concerned A couple of points I have - If you are offering design 'packages' I'd suggest you offer these in a similar way to hosting companies do in magazines - lead by price and bulleted features. If you are aiming at the technological illiterate (which I'd guess would cover a large part of the 'cheap as chips' audience) don't promote using techie terms - sell in plain english. Spell things right - a couple of spelling mistakes is enough to make a client think you don't care. And the bottom line is - you sound like a mill-owner on the site. Whether or not it is the case, clients don't want to think they are promoting a sweatshop mentallity. Good idea, I think the execution shows a lack of experience in business - something you really should be showing if you are going to consult on developing a marketing or IT solution for a business, as opposed to 'chucking a website together'. Oddly enough - supporting people such as yourselves is one of the goals of Under Construction, the project I am helping develop (voluntarily). |
